Collection and origin services

For Parcel, Select and Premium quote types, objects will be collected by hand. This requires a local carrier to schedule an appointment with the origin location contact, who will arrive on site to take the items for packaging and transport. Contacts should be aware of the booked shipment, be familiar with either the Public Reference or Arta Shortcode, and should have the objects ready for release.

Packaging

Depending on the transportation service, items might be moved locally with little to no packaging or carriers will arrive prepared to package the object(s) on site. Contacts can direct concern about on site packaging to hello@arta.io.

If local carriers intend to pack on site, the objects should not be blocked by furniture, upstairs or unable to be moved through doorways. If there is a question about accessibility, please alert Arta.

Services

If Transit Insurance is booked, Arta will likely carry out a Condition Check on-site at the origin location. Conditioning including taking images of the object from multiple angles, close inspection, and note taking. Local carriers may ask for a clean, open space to conduct their review. It is important these are done on site to avoid any discrepancies between the collection and the local warehouse where the object is fully packaged.

For shipments booked with De-installation or Disassembly, local carriers may arrive prepared to move objects from their current position into a safe state for packaging. Carriers will be respectful of the location, and work to efficiently yet safely move the objects to an area for packing. Objects should be directly accessible with no ladders or equipment required.

Hold to Collect

In some instances a buyer might book shipping before the object(s) are ready to be released, whether the pieces are not packaged or a check has not cleared. Arta enables clients to create an Exception to alert us when to Hold to Collect, provide a ‘hold until’ date, and clear the Exception when the shipment is ready.

Contacts

On-site contacts are expected to have the authority to make decisions related to handling and answer questions regarding the objects. If conditions change on site and additional charges may apply, Arta will be in contact to discuss with our client.
